About CheRae
I'm CheRae, an eLearning consultant specializing in LMS Management and Instructional Design. The thing I like most about this industry is that I get to wear so many different hats. In a single day, I've been a Project Manager, Instructional Designer, Technical Writer, Tech Lead, Tester, Database Analyst, Systems Administrator, Film Maker, Voice Actor, Script Writer, Producer, Photographer, Graphic Designer, Trainer, and Video Game Developer!
My eLearning journey first began in college when I created a Moodle Course Development site in my Curriculum Instruction class. I enjoyed the assignment so much that I persuaded the Instructor to allow me to build a site for our class during my work-study as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant. That experience enabled me to obtain my first LMS Administrator role before graduating.
After obtaining my second eLearning contract, I realized that while my academic studies provided me a solid foundation in adult learning theory, I lacked the technical skills needed to become a top designer. That year, I closed those gaps by creating a "toolbox" of skills and software applications that best compliment me as an eLearning professional.
In the next five years, I plan to continue working on projects for companies whose vision is in line with mine and whose problems I know I can solve. Additionally, I'd like to become an Adobe Evangelist/influencer in my eLearning communities by answering questions, blogging, and writing testimonials. To that end, Adobe incentivizes my goal through a system of points and badges assigned based on my contributions to the community with the incentive ranging from a free software license to hosting webinars to an all-expenses-paid invite to annual Adobe Conferences. In March 2019, I was ranked as a "Master" and was featured on Adobe's Leaderboard as a top contributor.
